Daniel Hernandez
Micheivous Witch Clown
My name is Daniel Hernandez. I am an itinerant mischief-maker exploring the ritual roots of performance. The deeper I have dived into teaching, performing, and living in this rich territory, the more I have seen archaic/ shamanic clown and mask cosmologies become fascinating and colourful routes into individuation: containing a vast treasure-box of rituals, dance, liminal states, grotesque archetypes and clown-lore.
My performances, projects, ceremonies and workshops draw upon a wide variety of related traditions: These include Dance, Clown, Bouffon, Butoh, Contact Improvisation, Tao/Tantra, Vodou, Mask, Psychomagic, Art, Sacred Sexuality and Breathwork.
I am continually researching and developing my practice through trainings, writings, ceremonies, experiments, and mistakes. My first love was music. I don’t claim to be a master of anything.

CLAYOS "clay action"
CLAY — prima materia, biblical substance of human genesis, concoction of water and living earth, athenæum of geologic and fluvial forces.
CHAOS — amorphous mass from which the cosmos originated, dynamic non-hierarchical flow, a system of pragmatic ritual magical practices.
"Humble" derives from the Latin humus — earth. Clod — a lump of clay, and a simple person — is cognate with Clown.
CLAYOS is a safe space to discover what happens when we dance with 200 litres of clay and water. Here in this womb we meet matter at its most earthy, messy, and elemental.
Connecting with mud, we give time to simplicity and humility. Moulding ourselves to how little we know, remaining innocent and playful, we touch where we come from and where we will return. A time of levelling — hands and bodies dirty, down on the ground — leaving aside the perpetual reasonings of the mind in favour of direct encounter with matter, and with each other.
We dig our bare bodies into the earth itself. We watch as spirits form themselves in our hands and merge with our movements. We ask the clay to dance us — squashy, wet, alive, then dry, brittle, ghostly — feeling how matter affects movement. We sculpt ourselves into living altars, honouring the earth and her waters.
Here we explore our primal, playful nature: unplugged, simple, and material.
Clay is clean, safe, beneficial for skin and body, and easily washed away.

Ugly Tantra
DIVINE RIDICULOUS — UGLY TANTRA
All too often we wish to appear as perfect specimens. This is a mistake.
Consider: you are approaching orgasm with your lover, you have found just the rhythm that threatens to undo you both — and then the mind, that stubborn trickster, commands the body to hold in a fart.
I have been testing a hypothesis: the pungency of a fart is directly proportional to the shame attached to its release. Ask any child. The sound of a totally shameless fart is divine music. In my cosmology, children are the teachers.
Farts, squelches, belches, slapping noises, groans, grimaces, bodily fluids — these are of equal if not greater importance to any dedicated tantric explorer than the holy utterance OHM.
What, then, is beauty?
In Tibet, the ugliest and most terrifying demons are in fact guardians of the highest prize. In medieval times, hunchbacks, witches, deviants, and freaks were banished to swamps, made to wear bells so the righteous need not look. Yet they were called upon to dance when plague and sickness came. What strange healing power did they hold?
When does ugly transcend itself and transport us into direct connection with the divine?
This workshop draws on Clown, Bouffon, Butoh, Contact Improvisation, Mask, Sacred Sexuality, and Breathwork. There is music, mischief, and party in the practice.
Divine Freaks and Exiles will emerge from the shadows, wearing their warts with fantastic pride. We will give permission to our ugliest faces and bodies — discovering how beautiful, powerful, political, sexy, and side-splittingly funny it is to reveal what we hide.
The paradox: in sharing the shadowy part, we become more beautiful.
No experience necessary.
Our aim is to nourish life, work, art, relationships and planet.

TAMBOLUNA
an instant theatrical intervention / roaming ritual performance
TAMBOLUNA is a mythic ambush disguised as participatory theatre.
A small gang of archetypal figures emerge within the festival ecology: tricksters, holy fools, erotic bureaucrats, devotional salespeople, grief-clowns, impossible prophets. Participants are gently “kidnapped” from ordinary consensual reality into a surreal ceremonial encounter where matter itself becomes animate, seductive, absurd and sacred.
Through live sound, symbolic tasks, choreographed interruptions, whispered instructions, comedic ritual, tactile objects, masks, movement and relational improvisation, participants are guided into an intensified intimacy with the material world.
Coins become prayers.
Honey becomes prophecy.
Mud becomes makeup.
Bodies become landscapes.
Value becomes unstable and alive again.
The intervention explores this year’s theme, Love of Matter, not through philosophy but through direct embodied poetics. Participants may be invited to barter secrets, slow dance with stones, confess to water, worship compost, mourn dead objects, or receive impossible blessings from absurd authorities.
The work draws from clown, Butoh, psychomagic, immersive theatre, ritual art, relational practice and sacred satire. It is playful, emotionally intelligent and consent-based throughout, with clear invitations rather than coercive participation.
This offering is intentionally adaptive and site-responsive. It can erupt suddenly on the beach at sunset, unfold as a guided temple disturbance, or emerge quietly in the forest as a roaming poetic contagion.
The aim is not escape from reality, but re-enchantment of it.
Participants leave slightly disoriented, more alive in their senses, and in renewed relationship with matter, embodiment, value and imagination.
